A Boston native who has called Brooklyn home for nearly 20 years, Kayne brings experience, expertise, and passion to every project. With successful design projects completed across New York, New England, and California, Kayne has become synonymous with high-end, functional, and personalized home design.
Kayne’s design philosophy is rooted in creating spaces that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing, reflecting the client’s past while accommodating their future. Inspired by her work with clients who sought to create “forever” homes, she has developed a unique approach to transitional design, downsizing, living in place or transitional to an assisted living residence.
Kayne earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Management at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, and her Masters in Interior Design at the prestigious Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, ranked one of the top Interior Design programs in the US.
Kayne became interested in helping people through this life stage when a client asked her to turn an existing apartment into her “forever” home. With a daughter in college and retirement on the horizon, the client wanted a space that was beautiful, comfortable, and a joy to share with others.
The transformation started with a beloved object the client had purchased long ago while travelling with her daughter, the seed from which the design and function of the home blossomed. From there, Kayne focused on how the space opened up and paths of mobility could be made easier, while bringing a beautiful aesthetic to the home. The joy in building a space that would work as her client aged in place was so rewarding that Kayne shifted her focus to offering unique designs to accommodate this stage of life.
Kayne has developed a turn-key design approach that results in comfortable and functional spaces for her clients. For transitional design needs, Kayne places a heightened focus on the specific requirements of aging in place, downsizing and moving to a smaller space, or relocating to a more assisted-living environment.
This approach often involves collaboration with family members and a deep understanding of the client’s functional and emotional needs, balancing practical considerations with the aesthetic tastes that remain constant in this life stage: pleasant surroundings, beautiful objects, and a lifetime of memories to be featured and celebrated in one’s new space.
