Protecting Your Digital Assets

I recently attended the annual conference for the National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM). It’s wonderful being with colleagues from around the country and I always learn something at this conference.

One particular talk, on digital legacy organizing was conducted by Kate Hufnagel of The Digital Wrangler®, left a huge impression on me. We all deal with digital memberships, logins, passwords, etc. But knowing what to do with these assets (which is exactly what they are) is not something I’ve prioritized, to be honest. What happens when a loved one passes and you aren’t able to close these accounts? Or, you are locked out and not able to access them or properly shut them down?

I did an extensive post on this on Substack so you can read more there. Good news is companies like google, facebook, and apple have ways to set up your digital legacy fairly quickly. But others (aol, yahoo, amazon) make some of this a bit more difficult.

Go read the post and see if you can get some of these in place, for yourself and other family members. It will save them a lot of time and headache in the future.

Still not sure? Let’s chat!
